Revel’s hair smells like sunshine now,
and he cries and complains when I try to bring him inside.
He’s fast, faster than me really, even though his legs are a fraction of the size,
and he loves to run.
Sometimes he gives me a hug, out of the blue
with his arms stretched wide.
He notices squirrels, and quacks like a duck, acts like his little hand is a beak and bites me with it.
He picks flowers and puts them in his hair. In his friends’ hair, in mine. He likes when people are happy.
I’ve never met someone with a sweeter heart.
He’s gentle, like the warm spring breeze,
and the baby deer, nuzzling its mother.
I love you Revel.
Thank you for listening,
Michelle, thank you for sharing your heart with us through your photos and amazing writing. You are always able to remind me of how special even the tiniest things on this earth are. I love you, thank you for another incredible guest piece.
You are perennial.
Year after year you
part your lips like petals,
spread the pollen of words, fierce and honest.
You are bees and you are wind,
carrying the words from place to place, person to person, softly,
ensuring their survival.
With love may you open like a seed pod always
And share your gifts with others as they spill into the air.
Be a spring
breaking through layers of rock and earth
to trickle gently into the mouths of the thirsty.
Be a chrysalis,
Protecting the shiny life within,
which breaks through your body, born,
wings sticky and new, and takes off into the silky breeze.
Protect your heart just to let it go.
Thank you for listening.
